Great Beer and Thoughtful Political Prose

This will be the maiden voyage of this blog so I hope you enjoy it.   Being a brewer for over 15 years,  I'll share a few thoughts on great beers and both successful and un-successful brews.     Also,  I'll share a series of thoughts on how to reclaim the one time leading country in the free world.    Here we go!

Who Is to Blame?
That question gets bandied about regularly in Washington, D.C. and we get a barrage of media input on this subject,  but the real answer is ....   They all are,  and so are we!    The entire Washington establishment is deplorable and with our current Socialist President and his band of fools,  they are like the Pied Piper leading the country into an ocean of debt and future crisis.     Of course,  all hope is not lost,  but if we don't get busy correcting our current direction,  we are digging a really big hole for future generations.    That is why 2012 is so important.   We need to kick out all of the long term incumbents to show Washington that we can still pay attention when they go over the top.

The collective population is either too busy,  too bored,  too ignorant,  or too believing (in the media biased BS) to see the light of day.    We did show some promise last fall when a new wave of congressional candidates shook up the D.C. brass....  but not nearly enough has changed in 2011 and the establishment is still plunging into the abyss at an uncomfortably high rate of speed.     The only way Washington pays real attention is when they lose their cushy jobs on the public dole.

As many have said previously,  we don't have a budget problem,  we have a spending problem.    Both major parties are guilty of participating and the current discussion of cutting $2 Trillion in spending over the next 10 years is a ridiculous and paltry attempt to put a dot bandage on a severed leg.      We need to cut $1 Trillion NEXT YEAR and balance the budget within 3 years.     Then we need a real energy policy and debt repayment plan for the future....  but those are details for future blogs,  huh?

Ok,  enough politics,  I'm about to be sick......  How about something useful,  like a good summer beer for this hot weather?       Today,  I'll discuss "Tire Bite Golden Ale"  from Flying Dog Brewery.....  This is a very refreshing lawnmower ale that fits hot weather like a bikini fits  Brooklyn Decker.     While this isn't the best beer ever made or even overly complex,  it fits perfectly with its intended design....  something easy to drink on a hot day when you might want more than one....  At about 5% ABV,  you can have 2-3 so I'd call this a reasonable session beer.

Ok,  that is enough for day 1,  see you next time!
